2017 was a year of technological innovations to several aspects of the engineering world, but the one that rocked the year was the innovation of the “battery intelligence”. Battery recharging took a new leap last year as we set our feet on the clear road of the “future” we have always thought of.
WiBotic, A battery solution company based in the heart of Seattle emerged with new innovations rocking the world with what they termed “Battery Intelligence”. Their company devised a means of battery charging via wireless link. So, practically when a power-driven engine is working, it can charge on-the-go. This development works for both mobile and static power engines.
The power source (a charge station) establishes a data and battery links to an end user, allowing visibility and operational control. The charge rate can be controlled for power optimization by an end user from his end network.
This technology gives solutions to aerial, on-land and aquatic instances. Example for each class of its application modes are:
Drones: drones are a component of UA (unmanned aerial) systems, which work with power. Considering their small sizes, it is difficult for them to carry extra power source aboard. Therefore, an operation does not need the total shut down of the system, leaving the task uncompleted. The PowerPad (charging panel) is made available and the drone lands on it and continues its mission having been wirelessly charged.
Robots: In places where the activities of robots are frequently employed, e.g. hospitals and mechanical workshops where rigorous operations that demands utmost carefulness take place. The power source is opened, and the robot gets automatically charged. This technology enables them to work as they recharge, therefore avoiding critical damage and delicate mistakes which can happen when power is cut off in the midst of operations. In fact, the power source has enough capacity to optimize system performance for an entire robot fleet.
Submersible unmanned vehicle (UVs): The technology also offers a flexible charging system through aquatic medium for SUVs. In a situation where an undersurface mission is to be done, and there is power limitation, the most viable option is a wireless charging mode instead of pulling several wires in water.

Without doubt, the world since the inception of electric power source has been waiting for this solution. We can now get power supplied without the luggage of wires and cables, but through the influx of a specific network connection.
There is no limit to what technology can do, considering the potency of wireless networks and work stations. We can only sit back and watch technology as it unfolds these beautiful discoveries.
